Summer Camp

 In 2010, Autism Nova Scotia (formerly known as the Provincial Autism Centre) launched a new summer day camp program for children with ASD ages 6-14. Building on the success of the camp run by the Autism Society Nova Scotia for the preceding 8 years, Autism Nova Scotia's summer camp provides a positive recreational summer experience for children with ASD . 

Campers must fulfill the following criteria in order to apply for Summer Camp 2012: 

·           Diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

·           Age 6-14

·           At least one year of school completed before camp begins

·           Is not eligible for HRM camps

·          Participates in the Intake for Campers process: parent questionnaires, school (Principal, EPA, teacher) involvement if necessary.

Every camp day is carefully structured with lots of fun-filled activities such as: 

·         swimming every day

·         bowling

·         field trips

·         play activities

·         crafts

·         baking

·         games

·         playground fun

·         table time

·         ... and more!

Each child has a one-to-one counselor who is trained to work with children with ASD - that's the difference that makes this camp such a positive and safe experience for every child who attends.

Camp runs Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm. Each camper brings his/her own lunch and snack. 
This camp runs in 2 week time slots. 

Our Summer Camp has proven to be a rewarding and fun-filled summer for the children as well as the counselors. Autism Nova Scotia is proud to see this tradition continue.

Summer camp applications are available now. Please apply early as space is limited. The deadline to complete the application process is May 7, 2012. 

Everyone must fill out an Application Form, and have the child's school complete a School Intake Form. Spaces will be given on a first come, first served basis. Your application will be considered complete when both forms are received by Autism Nova Scotia.

Camp fees are $400.00 per week. Please note that all camp fees MUST be paid in full one week prior to your child attending camp.
