Financial Aid Support for Students During COVID-19

Saint Mary’s University (SMU)

Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB program) 
Employment and Social Development Canada has announced that students (domestic and international) who earned at least $5,000 between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019 (or in the 12 months before the date of application) and who lost their jobs or were laid off due to the COVID-19 outbreak are now eligible to apply for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB program) as long as you meet all the other CERB requirements.
This assistance also applies to foreign workers (for example spouses of international students with open work permits).
This is a great program and if you qualify, you would be eligible for $2000 per month ($500 weekly)
Saint Mary’s Emergency Bursaries
Bursaries are available to support students for emergency financial relief. Students facing financial hardship due to COVID-19 should email, to provide information about why they are experiencing hardship and how financial support will help their situation.

Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC)

Urgent Aid
Our campus-based Urgent Aid fund is available to current students who find themselves facing unanticipated financial challenges that may affect their ability to remain in school. To find out more about Urgent Aid, visit Connect (NSCC login required)

Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU)

President’s Student Relief Fund is a fund to help students address financial burdens caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To qualify, students will need to be registered in the term during which they are applying.
All full-time students are eligible, as well as part-time students who have taken a minimum of 1.0 unit since September 2019. Bursary size will be based on need. Students can email for application information. 

Cape Breton University (CBU)

CBU has announced a Perseverance award, an emergency bursary fund created to support CBU students facing hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional information will come via email from the CBU Financial Aid Office. If there is a student with financial needs we could also refer them to our financial aid folks - or
