Employment: Employment Coaching
Autism Nova Scotia offers employment coaching to Autistic individuals/individuals on the autism spectrum. Employment coaches can support job seekers and employees in searching for, starting, and maintaining employment, accessing accommodations and communication in the workplace.
Pre-Employment Coaching:
An employment staff member can support you with:
- Resume and cover letter building
- Mock interview
- Direct interview support
- Job searching and application support

Employment Coaching:
Employment Coaching is based on an individual’s employment-related goals and support needs. An Employment Coach supports an employee in-person (in the workplace or in community) or online. Some examples of what an Employment Coach may support a person with, include:
- Strategies to complete tasks efficiently
- Communication with coworkers, supervisors, etc.
- Understanding roles and responsibilities of a job
- Building self-advocacy skills
- Requesting accommodations
On the job employment coaching means that employment coach will go with you to your workplace to support you, and then will transition out as you increase confidence and comfortability in your job.
Off the job employment coaching means that an employment coach will meet with you online for 1-2 hours per week.
