Description:

The Women’s Autism/Autistic Project was created by two autistic advocates who experienced gaps in groups and programs for women. Many of the programs offered through Autism Nova Scotia in the past were largely attended by men and the founders wanted to create a space where women could feel safe and supported and with people who had shared experiences.

The project has quickly grown and now has a dedicated autistic facilitator. Women’s Autism/Autistic Project (WA/AP) has expanded to now offer a cohort for teen girls. In the teen group, discussions are led by a facilitator and focus on topics such as mental health, and activities including arts and crafts, and trivia. The women’s cohort is less structured and conversations often flow more organically.
