Future Ready
Future Ready is a program designed to help Autistic youth meet peers and build life skills and job readiness skills. Participants get to volunteer with local organizations, connecting with and contributing to their communities. Throughout the program, participants work on individual goal planning and receive personalized support to help achieve their goals.
Ages/Life Stage:
Autistic high school students, ages 14 to 21, interested in building skills that support their pathways to education, employment, and meaningful community belonging
Date and Time:
Every Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for 8 weeks.
Location
- Future Ready group members meet in person at the Truro Regional Autism Centre (339 Willow Street).
- Volunteer experiences take place in person with local employers and community organizations.

Description:
The goal of Future Ready is to support participants in building skills and exploring their goals for the future through group sessions focused on future pathways and opportunities for volunteer experiences in the community to build connection and belonging. Participants also meet one-on-one with staff, either virtually or in person, to work through program materials, develop personal goals, and receive individualized support. Topics include budgeting and personal finance, community involvement, independent living skills such as cooking and self-care, and exploring pathways in education, training, and employment.
