4 Gardening Tips

Gardening is a great way to get outside, enjoy the nice weather, and practice building fine motor communication, joint attention, imitation skills, and more.

The QuickStart team wants to share 4 tips for gardening.

  1. Have little shovels, rakes, and watering cans available to allow your child to take an active role in gardening.
  2. Show them how to use the tool, and then give them an opportunity to try it themselves.
  3. Use gardening as an opportunity to explore different textures.
  4. Try taking a magnifying glass and looking for bugs living in your garden. Build on their joint attention skills by finding and commenting on different insects you see.
