Toy Rotation

What is Toy Rotation?

Toy rotation is an easy and effective strategy that involves periodically swapping toys. Rather than having all toys available at once, some are stored away and reintroduced on a scheduled basis.

Why Rotate Toys?

1) Reduces Clutter: Rotating toys can reduce clutter and promote organization. Children also develop a better understanding of where toys belong, making cleanup easier.

2) Boosts Creativity: Fresh toys encourage imaginative play.

3) Increases Focus: Fewer choices help children engage deeply with each toy and create learning opportunities.

4) Saves Money: Makes old toys feel new again without extra spending.

How to Start?

1) Sort and Store: Divide toys into groups and store some out of sight.

2) Rotate Regularly: Swap out toys every few days, weeks, or months based on what works for the household.

3) Observe and Adapt: Observe preferences and adjust the rotation as needed. If the child is not engaging with the toys, consider switching them out earlier or introducing toys that align with current interests.
