Applying Sunscreen

As summer approaches, sunscreen becomes a must-have for safety. However, applying sunscreen can be challenging.

Here are five tips to help make applying sunscreen easier from the QuickStart team:

  1. To set a positive example and become familiar with the routine, apply your sunscreen and involve them in the process.
  2. Boost motivation by incorporating music or games. Try adding sunscreen during playful activities like “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.”
  3. Offer different sunscreen options, such as cream or spray, so they can be involved in the decision making process and have a texture selection.
  4. Apply sunscreen in front of a mirror to model the application and encourage them to copy you. This approach can help visualize the process and promote independence.
  5. Building comfort and familiarity with any new routine takes time. Have patience and allow multiple opportunities to observe and practice the steps involved.

By incorporating these strategies, you can help make sunscreen application a positive experience.
