Preparing a Learning Environment

Preparing a space that supports learning makes a big difference in how we learn and engage. The QuickStart team have some tips for creating an environment that promotes learning.

Reduce distractions:

  • Limit the number of toys available in the space at one time.
  •  Select toys that match the child’s development level.
  • Try to reduce distractions such as extra objects or background noise that can pull attention away from the activity.

Promote skills:

  • Keep toys in containers, drawers, or shelves for easy access.
  • Make toys within reach and consider how they can be used for independent or group play.
  • Mix familiar toys with new ones to keep things fresh and engaging.

Create Zones:

  • Create a small “play station” for different activities, such as a table for puzzles, a cozy corner for books.

Preparing the space helps your child to stay engaged, learn new skills, and enjoy playtime even more.
