Promoting Healthy Sleep

Healthy sleep promotes growth, increases attention, supports learning, and so much more. The Quickstart team has some tips and strategies that can be used to promote healthy sleep.

  1. Consistency: Create a predictable, age-appropriate sleep schedule that is consistent throughout the entire week.
  2. Routine: Develop a bedtime routine that is completed in the same order each night. Avoid ending the bedtime routine too early as lights out should be closely followed by falling asleep.
  3. Keep it Cool: Lower temperatures in the sleeping space can help signal the body to sleep.
  4. Timing: Limit liquids before bed and avoid blue lights such as tablets, screens, and phones.
  5. Movement: Encourage at least 180 minutes of active play during the day.
  6. Activities: Avoid high-intensity activities like running or jumping before bed and switch to relaxing activities such as reading, snuggles, and fine motor toys.

Following these tips and strategies can help promote healthy sleep.
